Long story short, I saw the cutscenes and I was disappointed in most of them, including the two cutscenes with Tails. Just a warning: spoiler alert. Tails DID nothing to help himself, Sonic or anyone. Sonic was perfectly fine after all the torture he went through and Eggman just couldn't keep his mouth about the backup source. Sigh. So I came up with some ideas on how the story (for the heroes) could work.

Are you ready? Then let's begin. After the first level (Green Hill - Lost Valley), it starts with Tails and some people (Mobians, to be precise) being surrounded by some robots. Tails tells the people to get to safety (which they do after a few of them worry about his safety) and pulls one of his weapons out. However, Sonic steps in to save the day before the two-tailed fox could do anything. Sonic asks Tails if he is alright, to which he responds, "I'm fine, though I could have handled these robots myself".

Sonic (not teasingly) chuckles and (in the same style as the original cutscene) turns to face Eggman, who announces his newest creation which, to Sonic and Tails' surprise, is not a robot this time. Sonic charges at the new enemy, only for him to step out of the way. Tails, initially believing the enemy to be faster than Sonic, decides to scan him. But the readings (as we can see here) are indecipherable even for an 8-year-old genius.

Sonic gets beaten around by clones (Shadow, Metal Sonic, Zavok and Chaos) and Tails, instead of standing there and doing nothing, decides to join the fight, ignoring Sonic's protests and objections. Tails is intercepted and beaten by the new enemy, but the fox is not ready to give up just yet. He repeatedly, yet unsuccessfully, tries to save Sonic and gets temporarily knocked out. Sonic tries to get to Tails, but the blue hedgehog winds up getting badly beaten up. With his body on the ground and the stretch of his hand reaching out towards his little brother, Sonic calls out his name and faints.

Tails wakes up to find the new enemy carrying Sonic and, in his terrible condition, tries to stop the group of enemies and go after them. But it was already too late. Unable to fly properly, Tails sees the group of enemies take to the sky and disappear in a flash of light. With tears in his eyes, Tails painfully calls out Sonic's name, having lost his big brother. We then see glimpses of Eggman taking over the world, with people (including Team Sonic) unsuccessfully trying to win and eventually losing hope.

The next two cutscenes can carry as normal (except that Tails IS with Team Sonic, but is still upset about what happened with Sonic to the point where he thinks he is dead. Near the end of the next cutscene, Tails has an emergency to attend to). We then see Tails trying to fix Omega while wondering what he should do to fix him. Chaos 0 appears and Tails is ready to fight. He dodges the water creature's stretching attack and then he sees a blue blur.

The water creature is defeated and Tails goes to see a different Sonic (you know the one). He wonders where he came from and decides that they should work together. At the Death Egg, a battered, bruised and scratched Sonic is having nightmares about his defeat, capture and torture at the hands of his enemies. Some reverberations snap him out of his trance and Zavok shows up and declares that it is over for him, only for the leader of the Deadly Six to get no response. Zavok, believing Sonic to be somewhat of a wimp, chuckles at him.

Suddenly, the alarm goes off and Sonic's hands are free. The hedgehog gives a small smile to himself before his expression changes to anger. He escapes his prison and goes after Zavok, defeating him. After the azure hero makes his escape from the Death Egg, he sees a new face trying to fend off the enemies. Sonic stops the robots from doing any damage and thanks the new recruit for coming to save him and the two go off to return to HQ.

With the other cutscenes out of the way, Tails is reunited with his big brother and tells him about his feelings, to which Sonic replies, "Yeah, I know. But I'm here now". He then sees his past self and briefly talks to him, before Tails informs everyone of Eggman's plan. Sonic knows that Eggman is not joking around, but is determined to stop the madman at all costs.

We then have a cutscene where Sonic is ready to fight the Shadow clone. Shadow steps in and takes the clone out, before telling Sonic that the person he assumed to be Shadow was a fake. Sonic then remembers what he saw on the day he was free from custody. We then have another cutscene (which stays the same for the most part) where the Avatar is scared but manages to put on a brave face after remembering Sonic's encouraging but consoling words. (see the bottom to read them)

With the other cutscenes out of the way, we see Sonic and the Avatar get sucked into null space. Eggman does the same thing he did in the original cutscene, but keeps his mouth shut after talking about how he decided to learn from his mistakes. But then Sonic and the Avatar show up after managing to escape null space.

Another cutscene (where Team Sonic fights some clones to get to Infinite) that stays the same, except that Tails apologises to Team Sonic and flies to help the Avatar (as we can see in the next cutscene).

All the cutscenes stay the same afterwards, except that Tails DOES NOT say ‘true dat’ in one of them.

Phew. That was a long one. And here's the encouraging yet consoling speech I had in mind for Sonic.

Sonic: [to the Avatar] I know you're scared and I know it won't be easy, but right now we need the courage and the strength to fight. You can do this, you can win this fight. I believe in you, we all believe in you. You just need to believe in yourself.

What do you guys think of my idea?

I just had to do this. Please do not hurt, kill, threaten or sue me.
